DESIGN STRATEGY AND USER RESEARCH FOR DIGITAL SKILL TRAINING ECOSYSTEM

How to create a Digital platform for skill training ecosystem ?

CONTEXT

Skill training is one of the most sought out courses after high school by many youngsters for multiple reasons including career opportunities, easy access to such courses and exposure due to local role models. While there are a plethora of opportunities in the market, the skill gap is too large owing to lack of infrastructure, trainers and quality content.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE

  • To get the perspectives and vision of various stakeholders

  • To learn from analogous products like LinkedIn, Coursera, etc.

  • To conduct user research and secondary research for the digital platform

  • To create a brand strategy for Knowledge Podium digital platform

  • To make recommendations for the product strategy of the digital platform

DESIGN PROCESS ADOPTED

After thorough research which included stakeholder interviews, secondary research, competitor analysis, and user research, the insights were derived and recommendations were made for the UX-UI Design of the pod.works digital platform.

STAKEHOLDER INTERVIEWS

This was the first step in the process. The aim was to get a sense of business goals, values and motivations behind Knowledge Podium as an organisation. For this we conducted one - on - one interviews with all the key stakeholders of Knowledge Podium. The whole process was envisioned and conducted from three standpoints:

  • Study the vocational training space

  • Understand the transformation Knowledge Podium is going through - physical to digital world

  • Account for the views and opinions of all key stakeholders

SECONDARY RESEARCH

  • Building a trust equation with user

  • Reducing barriers to entry

USER RESEARCH

Aim of the user research was 

  • To understand user motivation to use a platform like Pod.Works.

  • To know the general digital literacy and their familiarity with internet

  • To know how easy and intuitive it is to use the platform

USER PERSONA AND JOURNEY MAP

The inputs gathered from user research were collated and actionable insights were derived. With the help of the user personas, a journey map was also developed. Presented below are samples for user insights and user persona. At the end of this process, we were able to visualise the pod.works platform ecosystem which would aim to cater to all the stakeholders needs in the skill training space.

PRODUCT BLUEPRINT

Here is the sample service blueprint that we had worked on for the pod.works platform. For the design strategy phase this was the final deliverable. This helped in forming UX strategy for the next stage.
